Mini Cooper

1959 marked the birth year of one of the most iconic cars in history. First launched under the name of Morris Mini Minor, the little city car later became famous as the Mini Cooper. With its revolutionary front-wheel-drive layout and the unbelievably compact design, the mini grew to become the best selling British car in history. The production ran until the year 2000 and produced more than 5.3 million units.
Even though several different models, engines and upgrades were introduced, the basic design of the car never really changed throughout its lifetime. The last car that left the production line in 2000 was barely distinguishable from the first one in 1959. The iconic layout and character remained unchanged. The timeless design of the basic two-door model shaped the car’s character.
As the first proper city car with its iconic design, classic Minis are now becoming collector’s cars! Some early models in great condition are starting to appreciate in value as good examples are becoming rare. An original Mini Cooper model, for instance, that does not show any signs of rust or any flaws on the body work is quite sought after in today’s market. So are the pick-up and van models in good condition. Classic Minis can therefore be considered great investments if the bodywork is fine.
In 2001, after taking over the brand, the BMW Group introduced its modern version of the Mini and took the design into the 21st century. The Mini One turned out to be a huge commercial success and kept the iconic myth of the original Austin Mini alive. After introducing multiple new versions and editions of the car, the new Mini is still being produced and continued being a worthy successor of the original version.
